Gilda Snowden passed away on September 9, 2014. Her sudden death sent shockwaves through the art world, those of which still have not completely died down. As an artist, educator, and mentor, Gilda's mission in life was not just to further her own career, but to help and support the careers of others. As a professor at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI for almost 35 years, she affected the lives of thousands of young artists. 
Aside from her career as an educator and mentor, Gilda was very active in the Detroit art community. She made an effort to attend as many art exhibits as possible; camera in hand ready to document and share the event, and thereby promoting the artist being featured. 

The Estate has created this gofundme for the purpose of  raising money for the continuation and management of the estate.
Gilda's Estate is compromised of over 2500 paintings, drawings and constuctions. Along with the art, the estate includes all of her writings, valuable and rare books, photographs (you know her camera was fused to her hand!), and videos. Many of the items require climate controlled conditions. The Estate asks that you consider making a donation to help us reach our $5000 goal to cover storage and maintenance cost. 


We understand that our goal of $5,000 may not be met right away, but we are thankful for any donation that can be made. If you have a love for the arts, and this beautiful collection, filled with bright colors, beautiful flowers, and powerful storms, please, any amount will help.
