My son who is 41 years old had had a brain tumor removed in 2006.  The tumor was causing severe migraines and causing him to throw up multiple times a day. The beginning of 2019 he started to have the same issues and he was thinking he had another tumor.  In September he was at the point he could no longer work or just barely function.  He called me and told what he had been dealing with. The local doctors just wanted to use narcotics to stop the pain. Anyone with severe migraines knows once treated with narcotics rebound headaches are even worse.  He had an MRI with contrast done and the results showed a mass.  Now he is panicked and asked if we could help him go to the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago, they found the last tumor. He has his own start up business and no health insurance because of the cost for a single guy.  We called the Diamond Headache Clinic and they need $5000 for the doctor and $15050 up front for the hospital.
My wife and I are retired living on social security and a small investment. Our 33 year old single daughter died unexpectedly in January of 2018 leaving two children for us to raise. Needless to say our planned retirement dollars are not going to go as far as we thought. I've tried to refinance my house but i don't have enough income to qualify even though we have a great credit score. I have two credit cards with $15000 credit limits. I can't loose my son after just loosing my daughter. we agreed to get him to Chicago and put the charges on my credit cards and figure out how to pay them later.
We went to Chicago to the Diamond Headache Clinic and the good news is he doesn't have a tumor, he suffering from treatable migraines caused by a concussion. He will be on non narcotic medicines for probably the rest of his life. He will start back to work and start living as close to normal as he can.
He had some unexpected heart issues during the hospital stay and needed a cardiac specialist and of coarse no matter what the estimated hospital costs are,the extras are starting to roll in.
My wife and I have worked hard our entire lives and have never asked anybody for help. I am writing this because several of my friends have told me they would help. I am praying for peace through this process and for any help.
