On May 29, 2019;  Glenn Nikiel ; best known by his nickname "Chucky" came home from work complaining that he had food poisoning. By the next morning, he had pain in his hands and feet. 911 was called and he was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately; it took a couple of days to diagnose him with Streptococcus  Meningitis Septicemia. The severe infection spread to his extremities, and  he is undergoing the amputation of both legs under the knee, while the surgeons are assessing how much of each of his hands can be saved. 

As I understand it, the cause of this is dormant bacteria in humans that suddenly becomes active. People with compromised immune systems are particularly susceptible. This came out of nowhere with Chucky, and we will most likely never know exactly how this happened to him.

While he has medical insurance through work, it will not cover all of the immediate expenses that he will need for deductibles, medical equipment, therapy, and anything /everything else related to losing multiple limbs so suddenly. He will have to learn new ways of doing everything that so many of us take for granted.

His wife Tammy works tirelessly as a Nurse helping others every day, so he is in great hands, but going from two incomes to one so drastically is jarring to say the least.
