Help Crystal Fight Cancer

Hi, my name is Valarie and my best friend, Crystal, is in great need of our support. Before I get into the detail of what's going on, I'm going to share wth you a bit about Crystal.

Crystal and I met in 2008. At the time she was a single mother of two young boys, working full-time, and doing everything she could to ensure her boys were well taken care of. Not long after we met, she reconnected with her high school flame, Gilbert. Soon after reconnecting, they married and gained full custody of his two young children. Gilbert's career in the trucking industry demanded he be away from home most days. Crystal played an important role in managing four kids, their schedules with school and sports, and helping Gilbert run his business, all while working her full-time job. She eventually left her job to support Gilbert's business and focus on raising their children. Those four kids are all grown up now and have started their own journey through life. Throughout the years, Crystal has sacrificed her personal wants and needs for the betterment of her family. Always ensuring her family has what they need to be healthy, happy, and successful. She is the most selfless human I've ever met, and I can't imagine this world without her.

Once the kids were older, Crystal started going on the road with Gilbert to help with his business. And now that the kids are grown, they recently decided to do one of the things they've always wanted, which is downsize their living and enjoy a minimalistic lifestyle. This allows them to spend time together on the road and freely enjoy their travels, with their home base in Texas.

Crystal hasn't been feeling well for several months and has been in and out of the emergency room, receiving less than par attention and care. Thankfully, she landed herself at a hospital who performed appropriate exams and tests, and sadly, diagnosed Crystal with cervical cancer. She now has a care team who is performing additional tests to determine if and where the cancer has spread, and is due to start radiation very soon.

This is where Crystal and Gilbert need your help. When Crystal quit her full-time job, they lost their health insurance coverage. Due to the high cost of private insurance, it was more cost effective at the time to pay out of pocket for any healthcare needs. So far, she's racked up approximately $25,000 in hospital bills, and this is just the beginning of her cancer journey. This amount continues to grow weekly as treatment for pain is given, additional testing is performed, and as radiation treatment begins. Working for a health insurance company myself, I know first-hand how costly and unaffordable health care is. I'd like to show up for Crystal the way she's consistently shown up for others.
