It Takes an Army
Wow! What a year 2020 has been so far! The global Covid-19 pandemic has taken it's toll in more ways than I can count and we're all suffering from it in one way or another. Unfortunately, many are suffering silent battles in the midst of the virus.
My 18 year old nephew, Chandler, was recently diagnosed with stage 3 rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare type of cancer that forms in soft tissue. RMS can occur at any age, but most often affects children. He has a 6cm tumor and the cancer has invaded the nearby lymph nodes. He had surgery on July 13th to remove a lymph node that has been sent out to be biopsied. The surgical team was amazing and rocked out to AC/DC during the procedure, per Chandler's request! ;) The following Friday, he was able to walk along side his peers to receive his high school diploma! The tumor, given its location and size, is inoperable at this time. Over the next several months, Chandler will undergo chemotherapy treatments to shrink the tumor until it is small enough to be surgically removed. He will have CT scans and other testing between now and then to track the effectiveness of the chemo. If the chemo treatments are unsuccessful, other treatment options, such as radiation and clinical trial drugs, may be considered.
Chandler has a long road ahead of him and it WILL take an army to get him through it! He is strong, brave, and courageous and I do believe in my heart that he will beat this! However, his medical bills are coming in daily and will continue to pile up. I am asking, on behalf of him, for help to ease the financial burden. Every penny will help, so even the smallest donation will be appreciated!
Thank you so much for the prayers, love and support!
