"Whoever said Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend  never had a Dog"
A simple quote that I will forever live by and always define me.
My name is Amanda and I am a
Pet Mom to (2) Beautiful  & Awesome  Chocolate Labs.  K-La (14yrs+) and Molly (8yrs).
On April 5, 2016 my younger Lab Molly was not acting normal and wasn't being her usually hyper (wild woman) self and I thought maybe it was just allergies or a "dog  cold" until she collapsed on me several times and was lethargic and wouldn't even eat anything (not even a treat) ..
I rushed her to the vet where they did blood work and X-rays ....the vet returned to the room and told me to get her lifeless body to the Emergency Room Immediately!  Her glucose levels were at almost  500mg...
(a normal  level is between 80mg-120mg) She was 5xs higher than normal. .
Molly is still admitted to the emergency room as of now (2days later )....Since she has been there she has developed Aspiration  Pneumonia on top of her severe case of
Type 1 Diabetes.  As of yesterday Molly couldn't even walk due to the Pneumonia. ...with this illness it has completely thrown another scary curveball into the mix..
Molly will hopefully make a full recovery and can live a completely healthy life but unfortunately at a high cost.   Since she is severely diabetic she will need to take insulin  2xs a day for the rest of her life and weekly pet visits.  Insulin alone will be hundreds of dollars monthly  .   I am unable to apply for pet insurance at this point due to the fact that she has already been diagnosed with Diabetes...No insurance company will take her,
as she is considered a liability.   The emergency room vet bills have already reached over$6000+ and she will need vet visits and long term care the rest of her life....she is only 8yrs old and this is not a life threatening disease,  if Treated Properly!
I want to be able to give her the quality care she needs and deserves.
To some you may think that this is just a dog but to me she is My World!!
She is my Kid,  my Best Friend, and a Companion!
SHE IS EVERYTHING TO ME!

  What are the chances that
1 out of 200 dogs will be diagnosed with Diabetes and it's me and my baby who got the short end of the stick :(
For those of you who know me.  Know that I am a Extremly Strong and Independent Woman! It's hard for me to show weakness or ask for help (I'm stubborn ) but this has taught me that it's not weak to ask for help ..it means I'm human ... I am a single gal and i don't have anyone to rely on but Me, Myself, & I....
so PLEASE, I'M ASKING FOR ANY HELP with this unexpected burden .
I am also open to any advice or options as well...does anyone know where I can get assistance with insulin? She will be taking insulin from the regular pharmacy. And most importantly I ask you to please just say a Lil prayer for my baby, Molly....

I will post updates as I get them.

At this point all we can do is move forward ....thank you for taking time to read this.... God Bless .
