Help my son and his family

Donation protected
On July 21st, 2020, the unimaginable occurred for our family.  Our son David was shot while his daughter Kinleigh was in the car and wife Bethany and his son Payton were standing right outside of the vehicle.   David had taken Kinleigh to pick up dinner and Bethany and the other children were at home.

Bethany’s father, who lived with them, was extremely intoxicated and threatened to end Beth's life and began loading a weapon.   She was able to get Payton outside and call 911, however their other daughter, Carlie was trapped in the house.   While on the phone with the dispatcher her father came outside and was screaming for Payton to get away so he could shoot his mother.   While this was occurring, David returned home.   Bethany tried to get David to leave with Kinleigh so the situation would not escalate but he did not want to leave her and the children in harms way.   The loaded weapon was pulled out and pointed towards David, David turned around to grab Kinleigh and put her back in the car and was able to enter the vehicle and begin to pull away while the entire magazine was unloaded towards him.  One of the bullets hit the vehicle he was driving, and it entered his left leg.  The remaining bullets went into their second vehicle which is now inoperable.

Minutes after David was shot the first sheriff deputy arrived and a few minutes later several more arrived.  Bethany and Payton were removed from the scene and they were able to get Carlie out of the house shortly after.  Beth's father had barricaded himself in the house but the standoff was ended several minutes later by taser.

While we are so incredibly thankful that everyone made it out alive, this is only the beginning of a long road of expenses that will contribute towards healing.  David is the sole provider of this family and will be out of work for several weeks and the deductibles for both vehicles total $2,000.   One vehicle is considered a total loss and the other is not to be driven because it is considered evidence.  So they are without a vehicle and had no renter's insurance.  The children are extremely traumatized and do not want to stay in the home and they have been staying in a hotel which is another added expense.

As you can see, the expenses are already beginning to add up and it is the most terrifying feeling for them knowing that they will be without an income for who knows how long.   Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
