Firefighter Bob's Recumbent Bike

Donation protected
Bob is one of your everyday heroes.  A proud firefighter who helped battle the Oakland fire in 1991 and who has put his life on the line for our community, Bob had his life change abruptly over ten years ago when he suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury while on the job with the Santa Clara County Fire Department.  Since then he has made it his life's mission to take his experience to show others how precious is every second.  An avid hand cyclist, Bob has raised thousands of dollars and ridden for wounded warriors and other organizations supporting those with disabilities.  If there is a ride somewhere, Bob is there. Be it in Boston or the Nevada desert, Bob is there ready to honor those who have served our country or to be a positive role model to those who live with a physical challenge.

Last month Bob was out doing one of his regular 30 mile training rides along our beautiful Monterey Bay coast when a car pulled out in front of him.  With no time to react, Bob plowed into the side of the vehicle, injuring himself and destroying his prized recumbent hand-cycle. Bob got taken away in an ambulance.  Thankfully, he came out of the accident only covered in bruises and some nasty cuts, but his bike didn't fare as well.  Custom made for his body, the over $6,000 bike was a mangled loss.

This is where you come in.  Let's give Bob some love for a change.  He has always been there for us when he protected our community and brought hope and encouragement to all of those around him.  Bob will get another bike, but it's going to take a long time for the funds to be available.  Every week that goes by is another week that Bob can't keep up his training and his physical strength, but, most importantly to Bob, it's another week he can't be at a race doing what brings him and others the greatest joy.

Bob's favorite quote:  "Life is too short for drama or petty things, So Laugh hard, Love truly and Forgive quickly. Live to the Fullest While You Are Alive. Forgive now those who hurt you or made you cry. You might not get a second chance. Lastly if you have someone special in your life give them all the Touch, Time, and Love they need." Love & Peace (Bob)

So, let's give Bob the "touch, time and love" that he deserves.  I know that he would do it for us.  Thanks.
