Amber Madigan from Eastpointe, MI is 12 years old and battling a rare form of childhood cancer called Anaplastic Ependymoma which targets the brain and spinal cord. This is an aggressive cancer with no known treatment plan.
Her story began 6 years ago with one seizure and a visit to the Emergency Room which revealed a lesion on her brain. She endured radiation treatments and underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor.
A year ago the cancer returned, this time in her spinal cord. Again, she had surgery to remove one of two tumors from her back. It has returned to her brain again and she is currently participating in a 6 to 12 week clinical trial at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Tennessee. Frequent trips back and forth from Michigan to St. Jude will be necessary for follow up care afterward.
