John and Sharon Murphy

Hi everyone. I want to start by saying thank you for taking the time to read this, and God bless you. It is my goal to raise enough money for my parents, John and Sharon Murphy, so that they can put a new roof on their home and give them some cushion for the holiday season.  You see, three years ago my older brother Casey passed away from a traumatic brain injury suffered when he was sixteen. For the last ten years of his life, he was wheelchair bound and completely dependent. My parents sacrificed their growing business, their social lives, their sleep, and anything else they needed to in order to bring Casey home and meet all of his needs. Eventually Casey developed epilipesy and began having multiple seizures daily.  As time went on he drifted further and further away.  When Casey passed away it took a toll on all of us. As we all tried to move forward, life threw my family yet another curve ball.  Last September my father was diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer. It was like a slap in the face. As bleak the diagnosis he was given, however,  my dad changed that day.  His attitude towards life since my brother had gotten hurt, turned completely around.  He wants to fight. He wants not only to survive, but to live again.  It's strange to say that his diagnosis was a blessing in disguise, but it was.  I finally got a father back that found joy in life.  He has strived to improve his relationship with everyone close to him, and became someone I never thought I would see again.   
         Seeing as Christmas is approaching, I want to be able to gift my parents with the relief of some of their stress.  The bills have been piling up, and frankly, I believe they deserve a break.  My parents are the most wonderful people you could ever meet. forever giving, even after they have nothing left to give.  I want to give back to them this year.  I want to replace their roof, which is in terrible condition, and hopefully if there is enough left get them caught up on some bills.  It is time for me to try to give back to my parents, as they have always been so good to everyone around them.
