Hi, This is my sweet little boy named Lyndon. He is 6 months old and his life so far has been far from easy. He was born with a medical condition called Hirschsprung's disease . Hirschsprung's disease effects the bowels and intestines, he is missing nerve cells called ganglions which allow stool to move throughout the intestines. Therefore he cannot poop on his own. He required rectal irrigations several times a day. Struggled to gain weight and had severe anemia which required a blood transfusion, spent 2 weeks at sick kids hospital in toronto when he was just 5 weeks old , had many tests, needles and pokes. On August 14th 2017 , he had his first of several surgeries to help correct the damage caused by the birth defect. Currently he has an colostomy a this belly button , since this surgery he has gained 6 lbs . He will be having a complete reversal and pull through surgery on November 6th. Through all of this we have worked very hard to make sure Lyndon didnt fall behind in his developmental milestones etc. However he has developed a condition called plagiocephaly. Although hes been in physio therapy since he was 2 months old , it hasn't much helped in reshaping his skull. Lyndon now requires a special helmet that will help correct the skull deformation. But the cost of this helmet is out of our financial means as our insurance also doesnt cover it. The cost is $2000, plus whatever other expenses we will incur while traveling back to Sick kids hospital in Toronto. For those of you that have had the opportunity to meet my sweet little boy , know he is such a happy, loving little guy. Always smiling . He touches the hearts of everyone he meets.
