Kim is a mother, sister, daughter, friend, and she fights for the health of others and herself. Kim has worked as a travel RN for two decades, recently traveling all over the United States to work on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since February 2020, she has been to New Jersey when it was the epicenter, California, Texas, Hawaii, Kansas and Idaho.

 

It was on her last assignment to Idaho when she received a call with concern about her mammogram results. She flew home to Arkansas, and her worst fears were confirmed. A cancerous tumor was found in the left breast, and in the lymph node near the breast. The diagnosis is Grade 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. This type of cancer is very aggressive isn’t able to be targeted with hormone therapy, so she will be fighting back with a powerful chemotherapy known as “The Red Devil” starting in late Dec. 2021.

 

Kim is a single parent and sole provider of her household. She will not be able to work during chemo treatments (estimated 4-6 months) and will be undergoing a double mastectomy after chemo, which will have a recovery period as well. All money raised goes directly toward comfort and security for Kim & Jaden in the coming months - including funding her travel back and forth to doctor visits, treatment, food and lodging, and providing support for Jaden, 13, in hopes of keeping his life as close to normal as possible. Your support will help tremendously with the financial burden and stress that comes with a cancer diagnosis so that all of my mom’s energy can be toward fighting and healing.

 

Through her journey, she hopes to be an advocate for fighting breast cancer by helping to increase awareness about the importance of self-checks and routine mammograms.
