On Monday Oct. 9, Lauren Henslee (age 30) went into open heart surgery at MUSC in Charleston, SC. First, know that Lauren, Joey, Lauren's family, and Joey's family have been surrounded by love from family and friends. Please know that they feel the power of the prayers, and this has been extremely helpful. We ask these prayers to continue in full force.
Lauren's heart surgery went well. Everything involving the heart is excellent and heart recovery is going very well. Praise the Lord!! Lauren did suffer neurological complications during her surgery that has lead to a subsequent surgery early Wednesday morning. She remains in the ICU under close care and supervision. Just know that Lauren is doing well and is surrounded by an excellent team of doctors.
The recovery for this will take much more time. The amount of time and recovery needed is unknown at this time; however, instead of an expected few days, this could take several months or longer. During this time Joey will be using FMLA (unpaid leave from work) to support and care for Lauren.
First and foremost, we wanted to request that everyone continues to pray as much as possible for the recovery of Lauren as well as praying for Joey and all of the Family members! This has been a very stressful time for everyone involved and the prayers are what is needed more than anything!!
I wanted to create this page for anyone that wants to help them with a monetary donation. These next couple months will be very tough for them, and I think that anything that can relieve some stress on their lives during this time would be extremely helpful. If you feel the desire to give then, every dollar is greatly appreciated!!
Every dollar will be used to support Lauren and Joey during the recovery and rehabilitation. Any extra money, after the rehab, will be donated the MUSC Children's Hospital.
For those that do not know me, my name is Andrew Sanders and I am a very close friend to Joey and Lauren.
