Creston Avenue Baptist Church was vandalized on July 21, 2020. The vandals stole audio equipment, computers, and destroyed some of the property resulting in over $10K in stolen items and $10K property damage.
Creston Avenue Baptist Church is a pillar of the community and has recently celebrated its 115 Year anniversary under the leadership of Pastor Marcia Stanley. Every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday Creston provides groceries to the community via its Food Pantry Program between the hours of 12-2pm. In addition to this, Every Saturday Creston operates a soup kitchen where the public can receive a hot meal. These events have taken place for many years but with the recent effects of COVID, the amount of people who line up for these services has quadrupled. Each year Creston also has an annual block party towards the end of summer where they provide free meals as well as give away book bags and school supplies.
Recently due to COVID, Creston has started to live stream Sunday service via Facebook in order to stay in touch with its members and the community. Creston was looking forward to reopening its doors the first Sunday in August but due to this unfortunate event, this may not be possible.
We are hoping that we can come together as a community and help replace the items that stolen and help fix the property that was damaged.
