For the Love of MARTY Horn's Kids

August 31 , 2017 Marty and his kids' lives changed forever. Despite being 54, Marty was determined to learn to surf and had started taking lessons at Carolina Beach. Marty’s lesson started at 9:00 am and within 15 minutes, his life changed forever. While surfing in waist deep water, Marty went into a wave and fell off the board hitting a sandbar. The impact immediately fractured Marty’s C3 thru T3 vertebrae. Marty was immediately taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. His three children (Samantha, Pearce, and Zoey) were notified and immediately arrived to love and support him. Marty’s mother and five siblings have flown in from Oklahoma and Texas to provide their support for him and his children .
Marty now faces a future with many obstacles and a long road to recovery. As you can imagine the medical and rehabilitation bills alone will be astronomical. Research has shown that the estimated first year of SCI is about $800,000 to $1, 000,000. This includes:$125, 000 upfront for rehab, $40,000 for a used handicap van, $3000 for a wheelchair and $2000 for a medical bed, just to start the list. Plus all the expenses of having 3 beautiful children who have school, college living expenses...all they want is their dad in their lives. But we know the reality is we need to also pay these bills. As many of you know Marty is very giving and prideful man. I know he doesn't like to ask for help, but would rather give the financial help and loving support to others.
