Hi Friends! I am a full time Caregiver for both my Mother and Father. Two years after my Mother was diagnosed with renal failure, she suffered a fall that has left her in a wheelchair. Dad suffers from severe COPD, and is on permanent oxygen. He is a lung cancer survivor, heart attack survivor, and is in remission for a rare blood cancer.

After visiting friends for the summer, they returned to find their home of 45yrs uninhabitable due to mold. Much to their surprise, Insurance will not cover the 10’s of thousands needed to make their home safe. Nor will it replace over 70% of items destroyed, or the weeks(and growing) in an extended stay.

Two days into our hotel stay, my Father was hospitalized with Covid. He survived, miraculously, but complications from Covid has him hospitalized once again.

My Dad was always the kind of person that offered to help friends, family, neighbors, and strangers. You didn’t even need to ask. He just showed up, ready to work. My Mother is a kind woman who worked hard her entire life. True to form, their biggest concern is me having to do everything alone.

Walking away from the life/career I built for over 30yrs is an inner battle I face every day. But I will choose caring for, and helping my Parents every time. I also grew up watching Mr Rogers. The words of his own Mother always stuck with me. “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

Please help me help my Parents. I am eternally grateful for any donation or share. And please!!!….If you own a home, update your policy to include protections for mold. I don’t wish this on anyone.

Before I go, This picture is one of my favorites of them. Pre fall. Pre oxygen. Pre lung cancer. Pre lots of things. I look at it often, wishing I could go back in time.
