This is Jaidan Rivera, he is 7 years old and the sweetest little boy! He loves Star Wars and is the youngest of 4 children. Jaidan rides the bus to his school each day from Primrose where I am the director and his mom is a teacher in our infant classroom. He attends 1st grade in Orange county. About two weeks ago he began laughing randomly and holding his breath.
The Rivera family has spent the last week and 1/2 in the hospital in search of answers; he's even waking in the night with nightmares and having seizure activity at least once an hour. He was just diagnosed with Gelastic seizures or "Laughing Seizures".
Jaidan's mom and dad are unable to report to work as they are taking turns being by Jaidan's side 24 hours in the hospital, as well as caring for their other 3 young children who are in school.
We'd like to reach out for support for the Rivera family as their medical bills will be stacking up. This came on completly unexpected. It's not anything that anyone is prepared for; they are emotionally drained. Currently, they are testing to determine if he is eligible for surgery and trying medications that so far have not been effective.
