Baby Amelia Grace Hudson

In September, Kristan and Robert Hudson were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their baby girl, hopeful as any parent for a healthy baby and a simple delivery.  By the 34th week, however, their baby's health took a dramatic turn. She was diagnosed with fetal hydrops, which means there was fluid build up around her lungs, heart, and abdomen. They were taken by ambulance to Rapid City, where it was determined that they needed to be flown to Sioux Falls instead.  With a great team of doctors, they cared for Kristan in her pregnancy for several days. Then, Kristan developed mirror syndrome, where her body began to retain fluid similarly to the baby. On October 4, 2017, their baby girl was delivered via emergency C-section.  Kristan is recovering well, but baby girl is looking at a long road in the NICU.  Because of the fluid, and her early gestational age, her lungs are severely underdeveloped.  At this point, they are looking at a one to two month stay at the NICU in Sioux Falls.  Kristan and Robert have another child, a wonderful little boy, who is still in Spearfish with family, and they are looking at a long term loss of income, as well as medical expenses for both children. Carter has his own set of health challenges, and this amazing family needs our help!
With both Kristan and Robert away from work, they should be focusing on taking care of the kids, and less on whether or not they can afford this stressful situation.  If you can donate to their cause, helping their housing expenses, medical bills, and keeping everyone fed and clothed, that would be wonderful!  The Hudson family has always stood by their friends in need, and it's our turn to give back!
