Help While In Physical Rehab
Donation protected
On July 15, 2017 I was in a car accident that fractured my nose and a few bones in my spine. For about a month recovery was on the up and up, until one day I noticed I could not lift my arms to get dressed. Things seemed to keep getting worse, as my arms continued to get weaker, then my legs. Within the first week of September, I had fallen nearly 4 times and on one occasion, my door had to be broken in so 911 could pick me up off the floor in the middle of the night.
A trip to ER lead to a week stay in the hospital, in which I discovered I had rhabdomyolysis. My muscles had become so inflammed that they were leaking enzymes in my blood. If left untreated, it could lead to kidney failure. Further testing found that I have an incurable immune disorder called Polymyocitosis , a condition that causes all over muscle weakness. Although there is no definite cause to poly, speculation is that the accident somehow triggered it within my body. Sadly, I could no longer lift my arms or walk. By the time I made it to the hospital, my CPK (number that determines muscle deterioration ) was at 24,000. The normal level is 0~1000. I was virtually paralyzed.
Since 9/29/17, I have been in physical rehab which is helping me gain my strength back. Everyday I get a tiny bit stronger, and my CPK is slowly going down. As of 10/5/17, I am at at 12,000. Fortunately if all continues to go well, the doctors anticipate that within 3-4 months I’ll be able to walk again and have a normal quality of life. From there, I will have to stay on lowgrade chemotherapy for the next 3-4 years.
While I have some savings and help, I still have bills like my car note and medical expenses that have to be paid while I’m in rehab. Anything you can do to help during this time would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. :)
