Justins Medical, Oligodendroglioma Tumor

Donation protected
Alright folks, Justin is going for round two with this fight!
A little background for those of you that might not have been aware of how this all began.

About three years ago, Justin sought medical treatment after encountering some odd cognitive and motor symptoms. The subsequent doctor's appointments and diagnostics revealed he had a rare brain tumor called Oligodendroglioma. This type of tumor accounts for only 2-5% of primary brain tumors. He was referred to Duke University Research Hospital for surgery, where he underwent tumor removal and 70% of the tumor was successfully removed. Recovery was a bumpy road, but he finally went back to work, and the tumor was monitored through quarterly MRI's.
Upon recently experiencing symptoms again( interference with motor skills and coordination), Justin returned to have his quarterly MRI and it was revealed that the tumor had grown by 50% since an earlier scan. He returned to Duke for a biopsy immediately and it was determined to have advanced to a grade 3 tumor. Grade 3 is different in that it grows more rapidly and is more likely to spread. This definitely isn't the news any of us hoped for. The surgeon's recommendation is that Justin begins chemo and radiation treatments as opposed to surgery, as surgery would cause greater harm than good.
This week, Justin will be getting a clearer treatment plan from his doctors to determine, when, where and how often treatments will take place. There will be lots of travel, flights, hotel stays, and many unknowns from this point on.

This is going to be a down and dirty fight for life and we're not sitting it out!
Everyone in his circle is doing SOMETHING to help make this fight a WIN.
This is a part that a few of us can do, whether near or far. Pass this along, donate what you can and let's get this boy back to 100%!

Oligodendrogliomas account for 2-5% of all primary brain

Oligodendrogliomas are divided into two types:

• grade two oligodendrogliomas that grow very slowly

• grade three oligodengliomas, also known as anaplastic oligodendroglioma. These grow faster and are more likely to spread.

Justins is a grade 3 Oligodendroglioma.
