My name is Shan and I am Jonathan's sister. I started this campaign for my brother because of the numerous inquiries he received from those who wanted to help. He has received an abundance of Love and support from family, friends and mostly fans through texts, calls, tweets, comments and donations.
As many of you now know, the CFL does not cover injured players that require extensive treatment beyond one year to the date of their injury. In Jonathan's case, he lost some coverage because the type of injury he sustained (Brachial Plexus), you're required to wait a period of three months before any treatment is received. This is to allow the nerves to begin repairing on their own, if they have not been torn from the spinal cord. Jonathan had three nerves that were torn completely from his spinal cord and in that situation, they cannot be put back. Jonathan has had one surgery that was covered by the CFL, but that surgery did not give him all that the Doctors prayed for. We will use funds donated to help with the second surgery that is needed, with hopes that it gives Jonathan some functionality of his dominant arm/hand to be able to do the basics of daily living.

With the numerous texts, tweets and calls from those concerned after sharing my story, I’ve had an overwhelming amount of inquiries on how to contribute to the cost of my second surgery. This isn’t something that I would typically do, but I’ve been pushed and encouraged not to block blessings from those who have been led to be a blessing to me.
