On February 1st, while alone outside his home, Grant slipped on ice and suffered a severe injury. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where doctors determined he had sustained a trimalleolar fracture; breaking his ankle in three places, tearing a ligament and dislocating the joint.
While Grant is okay, this injury resulted in him requiring surgery to repair and stabilize the damage, which he underwent on February 11th. Thankfully, the surgery went well, however he now has a long road of recovery ahead.
For the next two months, Grant will have very limited mobility and a long rehabilitation program with full recovery estimated to be in about six months.
Grant is doing everything he can to continue working, but understandably this is at a significantly reduced capacity. Additionally, due to a prior brain surgery, he isn’t eligible for short or long-term disability benefits, leaving him without income protection during this time. While Grant does have health insurance, not all of his medical expenses are covered under this including his long-term rehabilitation care.
As many of you know, Grant is a devoted father to two children who depend on him financially and otherwise. His girlfriend, Kendall, is currently his primary caregiver and will also be unable to travel for work in the coming months as she supports him through recovery.
If you know him, Grant has trouble asking for help, which is why we are asking for your support on his behalf.
Whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, any support you are able to give is much appreciated and will allow Grant to continue focusing on healing and being with his family during this time.
Thank you!!
