hello hello, you may know me as Alaina Grace Broderson, but I usually go by Gray! I am a trans masc community artist in the Lexington area, I was born and raised here but spent the last couple of years living abroad in different communities and getting my Master's in Social and Cultural Analysis. I've worked in and around various social justice issues throughout my career, including helping folks navigate benefits, getting folks out of abusive situation, securing housing, empowering marginalized voices through art and music, and more. I adore my community, and am so grateful for everyone in my life. Coming out as trans saved my life, I have been wanting and waiting for top surgery for years, and I am finally in a place where I am able to pursue this goal.

I have attempted to go through Medicaid multiple times, but with the current KY legislation I am unable to get any assistance with coverage and must pay out of pocket. The financial strain is just as taxing as the mental strain trying to navigate convoluted medical systems that are not designed for clarity or support for trans folks. While I have been saving for this, it's still a significant cost and I am unable to afford it entirely out of pocket.

I have a surgery date, Nov 17th, with UK Plastics, which means I need to have my payment ready at the end of October. The estimation is approximately $7000 out of pocket, and I have roughly $2500 in savings from years of knowing this was a goal, so any and everything to help me make up that other $4500 is deeply and wildly appreciated.
