Help Brittany's family stay in their home

I’m reaching out as a last plea of help, because things have been really challenging for us lately. As some of you may or may not know, my husband was laid off back in April 2024, is currently job hunting and I'm the only one working at the moment. With two kids to care for, including one with special needs, it’s been a struggle to keep up with our financial responsibilities.

In May, my husband and our two kids (11 and 9 at the time) were in a car accident that ended up totaling our car. We went from having a paid off car, to a decent sized monthly car payment. A now outstanding past due car payment at that. To which I’m worried our car will end up being repossessed at this point if we can’t make some kind of payment towards by Sept. 21st., Despite my best efforts, my income as well and my husband doing InstaCart isn’t enough to sustain us through this tough time. Which has led us to fall behind on everything which was inevitably just delaying the balancing act from completely reaching its breaking point.

We are also in the process of trying to fight an eviction. We have now had two court dates (Aug. 28th and Sep. 11th) which have both led to a continuance and we are set to have another on Sept. 27th. Each time we have had to come up with money to keep the process of the eviction from moving forward. Which leads to other bills being pushed aside and it has began the tailspin of a never ending cycle of trying to play catch up.

We have applied to every assistance agency in our area and we have been turned down numerous times. Due to my income being over the amount required for assistance for a family of four, or for applying with incomplete information because we rent with a private landlord. The odds have really not been in our favor the last 6 months..

If you’re able and feel moved to help in any way, we would deeply appreciate it. I should have asked sooner, but my ego got in the way. Even a little support can go a long way in helping us get back on our feet.
