Thanks for taking the time to visit this campaign. As many of you know, Larry is currently in the middle of a complex, painful and trying medical challenge that has proven to be much more than any of us anticipated. Over the past few months it's become more and more difficult to cope with the growing burden of the fallout from Larry's medical issues.
Larry's Medical Issues
After the pain became too much, Larry went to hospital to find out that he had a large abscess on the outside of his colon and perforation of the colon itself. He's been in and out of the hospital 4 times since August, including going under the knife to remove the abscess and operate on the colon only to find out that it was far too big and needed weeks of antibiotics to reduce before a second round of surgery -- everytime we find some good news (the abscess and infection are the best they've been) he is in more and more pain and has to return for more tests and work.
If you haven't seen him in a while, he's down over 50 lbs. since he had surgery - it's astonishing. He's cooped up in the house, unable to do the things that make him happy. It's not a stretch to say that this ordeal has been one of the most challenging things that he has gone through in his life.
The Fallout
Since Larry went into the hospital in late August he hasn't been able to work and there's a chance he won't be able to work again until March. As you can imagine the extended time with no work has stretched the family's savings thin and being a single-income household for so long is not something that Lanna and Larry were prepared for. The mental, emotional and physical tax aside, the monitary challenge this has posed has proven to be formitable.
Larry's health is first and foremost the most important thing to us all. A close second is the well-being of his family and his loving wife; with the holidays upon us Lanna and Larry have found it difficult to maintain a normalized life. While the basic domestic bills are covered for now, the medicine is becoming more and more expensive with the lack of insurance coverage and growing list of prescriptions and maintaining positive financial health, especially in the holiday season, is becoming more and more difficult.
The Ask
This has been a trying time for Larry, Lanna and their family and friends. So many of you have asked about ways to help, to contribute, to ease the burden of this terrible situation and it's with humility and graciousness that we have set up this GoFundMe to offer those of you who are interested in assisting Larry and Lanna through this difficult time.
Any donations will be used to help normalize the financial health of Larry and Lanna's household, including ensuring that Larry's medicine is covered and that he receives the best treatment he can as he tries to heal so that he can return to work quickly and continue living a happy and healthy life.
