Hi, my name is Nico, and as I write this I am celebrating 68 days of sobriety (sober date: 12/04/2021).

I am fundraising for various medical expenses that I incurred over the course of the pandemic and while in inpatient rehabilitation treatment. 

For the past few years I have battled with addiction and have been in treatment since mid October of last year. My time in treatment has been very healing and transformative. I have experienced authentic change and gathered tools to help me live a sober life once I am done with my program. I am asking for help because I have been unable to generate income since last October due to my full-time stay in rehab. The money from this fundraiser will go to insurance copays, medical bills from treatment, rent for sober living after I leave treatment, and prescriptions.

I have been paying for COBRA insurance which costs $800 per month. I am no longer able to pay that, but I was able to successfully sign up for Marketplace Insurance (Obamacare). In the beginning this was extremely expensive, costing me about $400 per month for basic, not-so-great coverage. This is a huge expense for me as I am still in treatment with no income. For this reason, I am now covered by MediCal. For anyone who is familiar with this coverage, it doesn't go very far thus cutting my time in treatment short once again.
