Hello, my name is Abby. My two year old dog Maurice had a terrible accident last Sunday 3/3/24. His paw got stuck in a raised garden bed at the UW Madison Memorial Union which left him bloody, in extreme pain and traumatized. Perfect strangers helped me get my 120 pound baby into my vehicle. In retrospect it was a beautiful display of humanity and compassion from perfect strangers. His paw was shattered in 4 places and hanging on by a thread. The vet asked if he got stuck in a bear trap because the injury was so extreme.

Our main mission was to save his leg so these past days he’s been at the emergency vet getting sedated twice daily to clean the bone and the dying flesh in hopes of saving his leg. Unfortunately today 3/8/24 we got the news that Maurice’s leg is not salvageable. He is currently going into surgery to amputate the leg.

Although Maurice will be everybody’s favorite tripod his leg will be missed dearly by many and his accident will forever be traumatic for everyone involved.
