Save Golden Pyrenees family living in a landfill
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Michelle. Here's the story:
While working at a landfill site in Georgia, a worker noticed a family of Golden Pyrenees roaming the area. It appeared to be a male and female adult and several puppies. Once we heard about them, we knew we had to help. As you can imagine, this is a dangerous living situation for the pups. With their living conditions and their sizes, it has been difficult to gather and transport them. One adult female and two puppies have been rescued so far, though there are others needing help.
Each dog we have been able to rescue has been taken to a veterinarian for assessment and initial care. The dogs are underweight and covered in ticks and fleas. They need medical attention to give them their best chance at life. However, the cost is now creeping into the thousands. With the help of some local Samaritans, we have been able to start helping, but we have a long way to go. Many shelters are refusing new dogs due to an outbreak of the dog flu, and other shelters are already at capacity. Once the dogs have been vetted, we are trying to find them willing foster families or people willing to adopt.
The dogs that have been rescued thus far are so sweet and have shown no signs of aggression towards humans or to the dogs and cats in the homes of some of their rescuers. We can’t do it alone. For us to give these beautiful dogs their best chance at a safe, happy and healthy life, and in order to rescue the remaining pups at the landfill, we need help. Though we know it may be a lot to ask, we are hoping if you cannot donate at this time, you can help us by spreading the word and sharing this campaign.
