Support Kevin's Stroke Recovery Journey

On July 16th, Kevin Hutto had a massive ischemic stroke on the right side of his brain as he was getting out of his semi-truck. If you've never been in a semi, you really don't know just how high they actually are. Kevin fell about 10 feet and landed in the parking lot of a truck stop in Warrensburg, Missouri. Someone called 911, and he went by ambulance to the hospital in Warrensburg. He was immediately airlifted to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, where he went from the ER to Neuro-ICU.
The right hemisphere of his brain swelled so much that it started pushing against the left side of his brain, essentially, "squishing" his left brain between the swelling right brain and the skull. So he had to have emergency surgery to remove the right half of his skull to relieve the pressure. Had they not done the surgery, he would have died. The surgery was successful, and he remains in the Neuro-ICU. They expect him to be there 2-3 weeks and then move to a regular hospital room to undergo his initial physical and occupational therapy. After that, he will be moved to a rehabilitation facility for more extensive physical and occupational therapy.
Kevin lives in Wichita, Kansas, with his wife and two sons. The purpose of this request for funds is three-fold.
First, to pay for Kevin's recovery expenses.
And secondly, to help Kevin's family with gas, motel, and food money to get back and forth to/from KC to ensure he's getting proper treatment and to just be with him for emotional support.
Kevin was the sole provider for his family. Kevin's wife, Shelly, is disabled. So, Kevin's oldest son, Ben, is going to try to fill that sole provider role. The problem with that, though, is he earns a little less than half of what Kevin earned, and that is such a heavy burden to fall on Kevin's son.
So, the third part of this request is to help Kevin's family scrape by until they can get disability approved. (And we all know how long that can take!)
