There aren’t many people in this world who can light up a room quite as bright as our Tammi Kuhn. She is the perfect combination of smiles, laughter, sass, witt, patience, love, and warmth. As many know, in March of 2018 Tammi was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer and liver mets. In true Tammi style, she has faced this challenge with relentless determination and astounding grace. On April 17, 2019, Tammi gave her final announcement as Principal Kuhn at Glenwood Elementary School. While this has been one of the hardest decisions she has ever made, leaving GES was necessary for her to take the next step in her journey. After two opinions (both Springfield and St. Louis) saying surgery was not possible and chemo was the only choice, Tammi and her family began searching for more options. They found them. Tammi has been accepted by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York! This facility not only houses the top liver surgeons in the country, but is also ranked one of the most aggressive in cancer treatments. Tammi and her husband Marc leave for New York on May 20th for her first appointment! As a backup plan, she is also considering applying to the programs at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
As we can all imagine, the expense associated with this new chapter in Tammi’s journey will be tremendous.
Reflecting on the immeasurable contributions she has made to each of us, it is now our turn to provide her with the support she needs. Please consider helping Tammi to continue this fight.
