Penny's Medical Bills

Donation protected

This fundraiser is in effort to cover medical treatments for Penny as she undergoes radiation and chemotherapy to help treat her lymphoma that has left her disabled and with a very dire prognosis. Penny is just a puppy at 2 years old and has been through more than most PEOPLE will ever experience. Her very first owner used her to sell her puppies for money, and they lived on the streets together until Penny was seized and sent to LB Animal Care. Upon arrival they realized Penny was pregnant, her puppies were aborted and she was then spayed. As if this weren't traumatic enough, the stitches from this surgery didn't hold and they found in her in her kennel with her innards out of her body. She then had to have an emergency surgery to close the incision. With all of this trauma and loss, Penny was emotionally and behaviorally unpredictable. She was then scheduled to be put down two months after being at the shelter.

Penny's first guardian angels were Emily at Live Love Animal Rescue with the help of Laura from Blockhead Brigade and Jamal and Ali from K9 Kommittee , who rallied the community together to get her off death row. It is there, that Penny met her 2nd angels, Stacey and Jose, who started as foster parents but couldn't imagine a life without Penny. This hasn't changed one bit. They still cannot imagine a world without Penny. Penny is the only thing on this planet that can make Stacey cry real tears. I wasn't even sure she had tear ducts before Penny came along. Stacey and Jose's love for this puppy is incredible and very, very deep.

Over 4th of July weekend, Penny’s hind leg began going limp which prompted an immediate trip to the animal hospital. The doctors assumed that she may have a slipped disc in her spine so an MRI was ordered.  When the results came in,  that’s when the nightmare started. To everyone’s shock, Penny had a gigantic mass in her abdomen, spine, and wrapped around her aorta. That was probably the worst day of Jose and Stacey’s lives. The neurologist estimated that two year old Penny had weeks to months to live.

After testing the tumor’s cells, the doctors found that Penny has lymphoma which offered a glimmer of hope. With lymphoma, the oncologist created a treatment plan which includes 16 sessions of daily radiation therapy followed by chemotherapy. If Penny responds well to this, the treatment will hopefully give her another year. They have already spent over $10,000 just trying to diagnose Penny, so you can imagine how medical bills are mounting now that a diagnosis has been found. Doctors estimate that the radiation and chemotherapy will cost between $12k and $20k.

Please consider donating, but if you cannot, please just put all your positive thoughts/vibes/prayers into the world for this sweet girl. In Penny’s short life, she has already experienced so much pain and trauma. She deserves all the love in the world. Thank you <3.
