I recently received the worst news. Dora has a cancerous tumor on her leg. Due to the location of the tumor, her leg must be amputated (only if the cancer hasn’t spread to her lungs). I am still praying she can somehow keep her leg. Within the last 3 weeks, this progressed quickly. I had her evaluated and tried meds to see if the lumps would decrease in size. After that failed, Dora had a second evaluation where they discovered the two lumps attached to her bone and was quickly referred to a surgeon who determined that it was a cancerous tumor. Surgery in the US would cost us approx 14k so we are going to Mexico where the fees would total up to 3k. The fees are broken down as follows:
Amputation Exam $52
Blood Test $40
X-Ray of the leg $50
Chest X-Ray $50
Amputation $1500
Hospitalization $90
Pathology/Biopsy $90
Post-surgery biopsy: unknown amount
Post surgery meds: unknown amount
Total: $1922 plus taxes and unknown amount fees
Dora has quickly been declining. She can barely walk, doesn’t eat, is in constant pain, and has started to urinate and poop uncontrollably.
I love my Dora. I have had her her whole life. She will be 8 years old on Nov 14th and still has alot of life to live. She loves to swim and play fetch. She is lovely and cuddly. The sweetest doggo in the world. Best friends with her furry friend Sunny who both are glued to one another. I don’t want to see life with Dora. She is my best friend. She saved me and now I want to help save her. Any amount big or small is greatly appreciated
