Hello!
My name is Jessica Barton. I have decided to take the necessary steps to further my career by finishing my undergraduate degree. I made the difficult decision after my sophomore year of college to leave school. Since leaving, I have consistently worked at least two jobs at a time so I am no stranger to hard work. One of these jobs included being a teacher at the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens where I found my love of teaching. Unfortunately, that job was only seasonal so after working there for about a year, I decided to start applying to preschools. I took a position as a teacher at a Montessori preschool. About a year after starting that position, I ran into some personal issues and decided to relocate and I moved to Ohio to be with my sister and her family.
I think my struggles through school and my personal life will help make me an effective and caring teacher - one who understands that not everybody learns the same and that sometimes life impacts us in ways we may not even understand. Kids deserve someone to understand, listen to, and teach them not only academics but life, social, and emotional skills as well.
I am at a point in my life where I want to focus on my future and take the next steps to finish the education necessary to become a licensed teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I would love the opportunity to be able to give back to the community by caring for, educating, and molding the future generations of Ohio. However, I can only do this by completing a bachelor's degree and that is why I need your help! My current daycare salary is not enough to help me pay for two years of schooling but I truly believe going back to school is the key to unlocking my future. I am very excited for this next step in my journey and I appreciate any and all donations to help me achieve my dreams!
