Meet Jewel and Brooke! Brooke owns and runs Little Lakes Equestrian, a boarding and lesson facility in Ellsworth, WI. This is how Brooke supports her family! Jewel is one of the barn's favorite horses! She's a beautiful 9-year-old Arabian mare with a long resumé and a lot yet to teach young riders!

Unfortunately, Brooke and Jewel got some hard news this week: Jewel has a large mass in her abdomen and she needs surgery to survive.

She is a critical part of the barn, teaching riders of all ages and abilities. She has done 4-H, gaming, and teaches other riders cowboy mounted shooting. She competes in mounted shooting with her riders and went down to Worlds in 2022!

The vet is very optimistic that Jewel will make a full recovery and return to teaching young riders in no time! The surgery will be very expensive and her recovery will take time, which means the expense of surgery and a loss of income for the barn.
