Arpeggio

Ciao a tutti! Sono Matilde Fioravanti, fieramente toscana e studentessa di Cinema alla RUFA. Durante questi anni in accademia ho potuto far diventare il mio hobby ed il mio primo amore, la musica, il mio lavoro. Ed ho sperimentato sulla mia pelle il potere che questa ha sulle persone, cambiandone i sentimenti, l’umore, facendo parlare o ammutolendo, commuovendo o facendo sorridere. A me, come a molte altre persone, ha cambiato la vita, e la storia che voglio raccontare si basa proprio su questo: il potere salvifico della musica. Infatti, ispirandomi ad una storia raccontatami da mia nonna ed accaduta a lei, è nato Arpeggio.

Toscana, 1943. Il regime ha reso illegali o censurato molte trasmissioni radiofoniche e generi musicali, facendo quindi di chiunque riesca ad ascoltarli un criminale. In uno spensierato pomeriggio d’estate, la figlia maggiore della famiglia

Faggi, Guenda, sogna un futuro con il fidanzato, parte della resistenza, mentre accudisce i due fratellini durante

l’assenza dei genitori, a loro volta partigiani. I due bambini scoprono una radio custodita e modificata segretamente

dal padre, che porterà ad un faccia a faccia dei tre con altrettante camicie nere, chiamate all’azione da un vecchio

amico della ragazza. Sarà proprio lui, riproducendo un disco su un grammofono, a cambiare inconsapevolmente le sorti dei fratelli, riuscendo con il potere della musica a toccare anche le corde di un’anima violenta.

Per realizzare questo progetto al meglio, dando la dovuta importanza a tutta la troupe di professionisti, alla loro attrezzatura, indispensabile per un lavoro ottimale, ed a ogni singolo dettaglio che comporrà Arpeggio, è necessario un contributo che aiuterà a sviluppare a pieno la nostra visione ed a dare vita a questa storia. Nonostante si riferisca ad un periodo passato che sembra ormai molto lontano, riesce a raccontare di situazioni simili presenti anche al giorno d’oggi, in luoghi sia lontani che molto vicini a noi, dove la libertà effettiva che un individuo ha nell’ascoltare o dire ciò che vuole può essere e viene limitata o addirittura annullata, anche nell’atto più semplice di riprodurre un brano liberamente.

Hi everybody! I’m Matilde Fioravanti, proud Tuscan and Film student at RUFA, Rome University of Fine Arts. During these past three years of university I was lucky enough to make a job out of my hobby and first love, music. And I have experienced first hand the power it has on people, reshaping their feelings, their mood, making them talk or be silent, making them emotional or smile. As for many other people, it changed my life, and the story I want to tell talks exactly about this: the saving power of music. So, basing myself off of a story my grandmother told me happened to her, Arpeggio was born.

Tuscany, 1943. The fascist regime has censored or declared illegal many radio frequencies and musical genres, making a criminal of anyone who manages to listen to them. In a quiet summer afternoon, the eldest daughter of the Faggi family, Guenda, dreams of a future with her boyfriend who is currently fighting in the resistance, while she takes care of her two brothers since their parents are away, being partisans as well. While playing, the two kids discover a radio hidden in their father’s office, that will lead to an encounter with three Blackshirts, called to action by an old friend of Guenda’s. And it will be exactly him, by playing a song on a gramophone, who will unintentionally change the lives of the family by touching, with the power of music, even the deepest strings of a violent soul.

To carry out this project to completion at its best, shining a light on the cast and crew, entirely made of professionals, their gear, essential for an excellent job, and every single detail that will be a part of Arpeggio, your contribution is needed to be able to develop our idea fully and bring this story to life. Even though it talks of a time long passed that feels so far from us, it is a narrative that is still ongoing today, in places far and near, where the actual freedom one has to listen or say what one wants can be limited or cancelled all together, even in the simple act of playing a record.
