Tl;dr - Car's broken, not cheap to fix, and we're completely broke. Please help if you can.
Hi everyone.
I hate having to do this, but I find myself with very little choice.
On Thursday, Feb 26th, as my partner and I were returning home from a professional wrestling show in Hollywood, we heard a loud pop and our car, a 2017 Ford Explorer with less than 120k miles on it, started spewing white smoke from the exhaust pipes. We made an appointment and took the vehicle to our local, vetted and vouched for mechanic, who told us that in order to get the car back on the road, it would be just shy of $7,500. We, obviously, do not have $7500 to drop on this car.
The devastation is worsened by the fact that we have this car financed through Westlake Financial, and since we've only owned it for about eight months, we still owe over $14,000 on the car. Having spoken to the financial institution, they say that in order to buy ourselves out of the contract, we'd owe them $16,750.00, an even more unattainable number.
So our options are:
- Fix the Explorer for $7500
- Scrap the car and continue paying $600/month for a car we dont have anymore
- Pay $16k and get out of the purchase contract.
None of these constitute a good option, but none-the-less, something has to be done.
Pair all of this with having to move by the end of March, and we've got the perfect storm of unfortunate events.
I hate asking for money, especially when times are so tough across the board for everyone, and even more so while things only seem to be getting worse. But please, if you have the means, anything helps.
I love you.
