My dog Zoe was diagnosed with early stage ketoacidosis, a severe form of diabetes that causes lethargy, vomiting, dehydration and rapid breathing. Everything was fine until Tuesday, when we noticed our sweet girl had less energy and didn’t want to move. Overnight, she began throwing up and a trip to the urgent care revealed this sudden illness to us, turning our world upside down. Her blood sugar levels were in the 500s, when they should be much lower in the 100s. She’s currently being treated, however for her to spend three nights in the hospital will cost us more than we have. The estimate given to us was $4,408 on the low end, and $5,602 on the high end. When my grandma had passed away, we were fortunate to get Zoe who reminded us how to laugh and has since given us immense joy. She means the world to us and we can’t imagine a world without her. We desperately want for her to get back to her normal, healthy self, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
