Hello, My name is Roxana. As many have heard, there are many fires going on in California. Unfortunately my brother Ernesto , his gf Paige and her family were amongst the unfortunate families who lost their home in Paradise, CA. Luckily They were all able to get out of their home safe with their 4 dogs and 5 cats.

My brother and his gf had been living in Paradise for about 4 years and were working and attending college. My brother had a love for painting and painted on his free time for extra money. His gf had also started a clothing brand which became her sole way of making money.
Thursday morning...With their lives at risk they only were able to grab a hands full of items and left. With that said hundreds of dollars of supplies were lost.

After waking up in the AM and being told to evacuate they were only able to grab a few items. My brother explained to me the nightmare they went through. What normally was a 20 min drive turned into 3 hours surrounded in fire not knowing if they were all getting out. They were in separate cars and no phone service which made it all worse. Thank God they were able to locate each other and find a safe zone.

A post my sister in law posted after the disaster:
-"You never think it will happen to you, until it does.

This morning I was woken up by knocks on my door from my dad. When I ran outside in my pajamas staring at the Orange dark sky.

We decided we needed to leave within minutes. Hearing multiple explosions around our house, and it getting pitch black above us when it's 9am.... I saw the McDonald's right next to our house start on fire in seconds, and then almost got hit by a falling telephone pole on fire, having to swerve out of the way.... and then getting to the gas station with 3 miles of gas left in my car. Soooo thankful to be alive. I've never seen anything like that before. Driving through fire on both sides of the rode, kids and people screaming outside... Gas stations all closed.

lesson: have a fire bag, cash, gas in the car at ALL times, and never separate from your family.

we think our house is gone, but I'm just glad all of our friends are ok! We love you all and we soooo appreciate the love and openness we've experienced today"

Edit: house is gone

I can't explain how my family and I have been feeling after hearing what my brother Ernesto and my sister in law Paige went through and how they thought it was all over for them.

While they were able to grab a few things, they still need so much more to live. Anything possible is appreciated to the highest degree, thank you! The money received will be used for living expenses and replenishing lost goods.
