Help for Apollo
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katie and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my parents.
Our family dog, Apollo, turned 5 years old in May 2023. He was out for a walk on 23rd June when my parents noticed he was limping slightly and was in a bit of discomfort. The following day, he could not get up at all and has since lost all use of his back legs. He currently cannot stand or walk unaided.
Apollo has since been in and out of the vet for x-rays and investigations, and it's been found that his existing diagnosis of hip dysplasia has suddenly deteriorated and is now considered extremely severe, to the stage where he will require a double hip replacement to resolve it. We have been told each hip will cost around £6,000, and post-surgery will require hydrotherapy and medication to assist with his rehab. We are expecting the total cost of his bills to come to between £15,000-20,000.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that this was an existing condition, his insurance company will not cover it at all and therefore my family will need to cover the entire cost of any treatment he has. Without the surgery and treatment, his condition will not improve and we may have to make the heart-breaking decision of putting him to sleep.
I am desperate to do everything to help my family and our boy and therefore I am hoping to raise some funds to help towards the cost of the treatment, which will help to alleviate some of the stress from this awful situation.
If anyone has anything that they're able to spare, however small, we will be extremely grateful.
Thank you.
