HELP DENO'S VET BILLS

Donation protected
It's time for the holidays and everyone keeps asking Aaron and I what we want for Christmas. As usual, our answers are ridiculous things that we can't afford ourselves. A new horse, more race car parts, a million dollars. This past Sunday our answer changed. We just wanted our dog to survive.

Our 6 year old Boston terrier, Deno, started to vomit continuously. She wasn't her happy, normal, twinkle eyed self anymore. After being misdiagnosed at one vet for a back problem, we took her to an emergency vet in Plainfield. They made a diagnosis of something we had never even heard of. Leptospirosis. It was explained to us that Deno had somehow come in contact with wildlife feces or urine that had the Lepto bacteria in it. Although we had a possible diagnosis, we had to wait three days for the results to confirm. After blood work Sunday night, they told us her kidneys were 70% non functioning. We were afraid for our little 15 pound child. The vet prepared us that we might not have our kid anymore. On Monday night, she was worse. 80% of kidney non functioning. With nothing to go on, we continued treatment for lepto and prayed to every God and holy person we could think of. Tuesday afternoon was spent holding her and trying to revive some of our dog. Our prayers were answered Tuesday night when her blood work came back. She was better. Not a lot. But we had hope. Wednesday night..we cried yet again but for a different reason. Her kidney numbers had improved. It was also confirmed that she had the lepto bacteria. She was fighting this battle and winning. Our dog was alive again and very much herself. We made the promise that we wouldn't stop fighting this battle unless she does.

But we need help. She's been at the vet since Sunday November 13th, and as of November 17th We have an estimated 13 more days to go before she might be able to come home. We love our kid. She's family but we can't afford this. So far we've maxed out two of the Care Plan credit cards and had to borrow money from family. No one truly plans for an animal to get sick, especially to this extent.

We know the holidays are fast approaching. We know that not everyone has something to give and we understand. Even $1 would help our little girl to get better.

If you can't donate, please consider helping your pet and talk to your vet about vaccinating against Lepto. If our couch potato can become infected, so can yours. Below is a link about lepto and and what you can do to help your own dog.
