This is our friend Linda. She is an amazing wife and mother. She is a person who truly treasures all of her family and friends.
Life has thrown this very special woman some curve balls along the way. Linda had Lyme Disease which went undiagnosed for 14 years. When finally tested, the Lyme Disease had wreaked havoc on her 27-year-old body. The pains in her hands and legs, multiple eye problems and related surgeries are just a few of the many challenges she has endured.
Eight years ago, Linda was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She was faced with new challenges and more restrictions, but her smile remained, as well as her determination to take advantage of "having a good day" (as she so often says). There has never been a time when Linda has not embraced and shared in the joy and happiness of her family and friends. She is always there to share in the joy.
Today, Linda is fighting her biggest battle yet. She has been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma effecting her brain and her lungs. Thus far, there have been two brain surgeries: the first two month ago resulting in an 8-day hospital stay and the second on June 5th resulting in a two-day hospital stay. Due to Covid-19, Linda faced these surgeries alone in the hospital. Jay had to drop her off and watch as the hospital staff took her from the car. It is hard to imagine what it was like for Linda and Jay at those moments.
Because of Covid-19, Jay is Linda's primary and only caregiver. For months he has been unable to work his full 40-hour work week. When he does not work, he does not get paid. They have a long road ahead of them. There will be further testing, radiation, chemotherapy and /or immune therapy, and follow-up appointments.
Linda is a fighter. She is the kindest, most loving human we know. We are reaching out to our friends and their friends to please help Linda fight this battle. We all look forward to celebrating a victory!
