Help Boomer Get the Surgery He Needs ❤️

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Allie, and I’m raising funds to help cover a portion of the cost for surgery for my dog Boomer—my best friend, adventure buddy, and emotional support dog.

Boomer Sooner Klawitter (yes, that’s his full name!) is a Lab, German Shepherd, and Rottie mix I rescued from Chicago Anti-Cruelty just before the pandemic. He’s been with me through everything—COVID lockdowns, cross-country moves, long hikes, weekend fishing trips, and quiet nights at home. He’s goofy, loving, and has never met a stranger. He is truly the heart of my little world.

A few years ago, I noticed something odd in his eye while taking his photo. The way the light hit revealed a small abnormality, which turned out to be a tumor. We’ve been monitoring it with specialists, and recently it began to grow more rapidly. It’s now distorting his pupil and causing inflammation. The vet says the tumor is likely causing discomfort—though Boomer doesn’t show it. He still smiles at me every day, tail wagging, ready for whatever’s next. That’s the hardest part—he can’t tell us if he’s hurting, but we don’t want to wait until he is.

We were given two options: laser treatment, which may shrink the tumor but not fully remove it (with a cost of $4,500 and the possibility of it returning), or complete eye removal, which eliminates the tumor entirely and gives Boomer a fresh start. If the tumor is cancerous, laser treatment risks it returning—and that could mean another procedure down the line, bringing the cost above $9,000. We’ve chosen the full removal option because we want to give him the best, longest, and most comfortable life possible. The vet even said it might make him feel like a puppy again.

Boomer is only five and a half and still full of life. He’s given me everything, and now I just want to do right by him—giving him the best life possible, pain-free and full of tail wags.

Any donation, no matter how small, helps us get one step closer to surgery day. And if you can’t donate, sharing this means the world. Thank you so much for reading and for loving dogs like Boomer.
How the Funds Will Be Used
Boomer’s surgery estimate is between $3,739 and $4,271, based on a recent veterinary specialist estimate. This includes surgical costs, anesthesia, post-op medication, and recovery care. We are asking for help covering a portion of this total.

Your donation will go directly toward:
  • The surgical procedure to remove the eye and tumor
  • Anesthesia and monitoring throughout the operation
  • Pain management and post-surgery medication
  • Outpatient hospitalization and recovery support

We chose full removal over laser treatment because it’s the safest long-term option. Laser therapy would only shrink the tumor temporarily—and with the risk of it returning or spreading, the cost could climb over $9,000. Full removal gives Boomer the best chance at a healthy, pain-free life, and might even help him feel like a puppy again.

Thank you again for helping us give Boomer the care he needs. Your support means more than words can say. ❤️
