Welcome to Team Terri!
My sister, Terri, was diagnosed with stage IIB breast cancer on August 30th, 2017. She had normal mammograms at age 38 and at age 39, but shortly after she celebrated her 40th birthday she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In addition to being an amazing sister, daughter, and friend, Terri is also a loving mother of two very active kiddos. Many family and friends have asked how they can help Terri during this challenging time. In addition to your prayers and positive words of encouragement, your generous financial gift of any amount will help my sister with her medical expenses. Terri's treatment plan will be aggressive, long, and financially expensive. Her medical insurance "WILL NOT" cover all of her medical expenses, and that is why I started a gofundme campaign with a goal to raise $20,000 for her! Even with her insurance she has already incurred medical bills totaling over $5,000. Terri’s medical expenses currently include and will include the following in the near future as her treatment progresses:
1) Cost of each individual doctor's visit (her co-pay is $40. She will be seeing 4 different doctors at various times throughout her treatment)
2) Cost of mammogram
(her co-pay is $150)
3) Cost of breast ultrasound
(her co-pay is $95)
4) Cost of PET scan (her co-pay is $300) (Terri will have additional PET scans throughout her treatment)
5) Cost of EEG and MRI scans (she is still waiting on the bills)
6) Cost of biopsies (her co-pay is $1,500)
7) Cost of radiology (she is still waiting on the bill)
8) Cost of anesthesiology (she is still waiting on the bill)
9) Cost of pathology (she is still waiting on the bill)
10) Cost of her port placement surgery (her co-pay is $880)
11) Cost of chemotherapy (Terri's current co-pay (her out of pocket expense) just for 1 of the 4 chemo medications that she will need is $1,000! She will need 6 rounds of chemo treatment, and that is $6,000 just for 1 of the 4 chemo medications that she will need-she is still waiting on the cost for the other 3 medications)
12) Cost of her double mastectomy surgery & lymph node removal surgery (her co-pay is unknown at this time)
13) Cost of her radiation treatment
(her co-pay is unknown at this time)
14) Cost of her reconstruction surgery (her co-pay is unknown at this time)
15) Cost of her hospital stay during her surgeries (her co-pays are unknown at this time)
16) Cost of her various medications (not covered by her insurance is unknown at this time)
17) Cost of parking at the hospital is $10 per doctor visit. That is $120 in hospital parking expenses just for her chemo appointments and her chemo treatments.
As you can see, my sister's medical expenses have added up quickly, and they will continue to rapidly add up as her treatment progresses.
