Ila Charlton Medical Fund

This is Mary Jane holding our Ila Charlton, back in 2011.

We have known and loved Ila her entire 13 years of life. I was fortunate enough to hold her the day she was born as I was working night shift at the hospital.

We have watched her grow into a beautiful young woman. Her mother swears she’s sassy- but all I see is sweetness!

Recently the world of our beloved friends the Charlton’s has been rocked.

Ila has a neurologic malformation from birth that required a shunt placement with a few revisions over the years. Hasn’t stopped her from achieving anything as she’s grown into a smart, successful teenager.

This past Thursday she suffered a ruptured appendix that took the ER over 16 hours to discover. A ruptured appendix is a medical emergency in anyone- but additionally scary in a patient with a brain shunt that drains into the stomach. Her brain drain had to be emergently removed during her abdominal surgery and now she will be in the hospital for quite a while trying to heal, prevent infection and eventually get a new brain drain placed once safe to do so.

Through all of this, Jill and Breeze Charlton have been by her side and the road to recovery will be long.

If you know the Charlton family, then you’re a blessed person. They are the neighborhood hippies who open the home and hearts to all they know. They spend their free time raising money for Children’s charities through their Most Wanted Car Club. They participate in community events and help all those in need around them.

It is how their time of need so I ask if you have anything to spare that you consider donating to Ila’s medical fund. The money will go directly to Ila and her parents to support them while they miss work, rearrange their lives for an unknown length of time.
