Homeless but Hopeful

Donation protected
On 6/2/2023, my humble RV of 8 years burned to the ground along with all my material possessions, clothes, memories and 2,500$ in cash. The cause of the sudden fire is still unknown, but likely it had to do with an electrical issue. It happened while I was out in the field working and it was an unexpected surprise, to say the least. Processing this event and losing all my sacred belongings has been a journey and a teacher…

As a seasonal rock climbing and canyoneering guide, I live very simply and therefore valued the few material objects I had. Setting a precise denomination on all the precious things collected during my worldly travels, the ropes that took me up so many walls, the parachute gear flown across the skies alongside other lost hard drives which stored all my digital memories as an adventure sport photographer and athlete… well, they can’t be given a price point value. I know and recognize that. They are lost and I am moving on from it. Looking toward a new start.

What can be helped by a money donation currently is financial assistance toward buying new clothes, food, needed gear for work, supplementing my immediate basic living costs, compensation for the damage to other structures near the fire, removing the demolished RV and a subtle nudge toward a new beginning. Thankfully I still have my health and employment, of which I’m seriously grateful for and continuing to work through the seasons. I did have active insurance on the RV, but compensation for used and old (1995 model) RV’s is a complicated situation I’m learning.

I’ve never been in a position like this to ask for money publicly, so I do so now humbly and with total gratitude toward any donation, big or small. My pledge in exchange for your generous help is to share my wealth of knowledge and experience of the Moab desert personally. For 14 years I have called this sacred land my home and have learned to professionally guide others through many transformational experiences in the outdoors. If you’d like to learn to rock climb, descend safely on a rope through the extensive canyon systems, experience hundred of feet of free-fall on a massive pendulum rope swing, or simply go for a beautiful hike to learn about plants while seeing waterfalls and petroglyphs… then I’m here to show you the way. Come visit and let’s go on a journey together!

I also live in Mexico during the winters, where I love to share climbing experiences and big wall adventures in El Potrero Chico. I manage rental properties for a local Mexican family there and have built a small off-grid home myself, should you like to come visit.

I appreciate any help in getting my feet back on the ground and establishing some stability during a time of transition. Thank you for being you and helping in the way you can.
