Freedom Of Choice Under Stress
I am trying to raise €10,000 to launch a series of community based mentoring and education FOCUS centres across Ireland to promote total body and mind wellbeing amongst all age groups.
Mental Health issues are never out of the news nowadays despite the existence of several well established charities offering phenomenal help and support. Yet the problems still exist, continue to grow and suicide and depression are on the rise.
Most recently there were 16 suicides in Cork during November 2016 alone... an emergency task force was set up, a meeting was held and next to nothing was done.
I attended the meeting to observe and also took part in a few radio programmes covering the issue along with some of the causes like bullying.
As a result I was inundated with requests for help, support and advice which I gave willingly and freely as best I could and met with several requests for a more localised community based education programme designed to provide individuals with the life management skills and coping strategies so evidently lacking in today's society.
The Samaritans, Aware, Concern, Pieta House and SOS to name but a few are great organisations extremely underfunded and under resourced whilst relying upon people to contact them for help amidst the stigma that still exists surrounding Mental Health in Ireland.
Unfortunately all too often by the time those in need actually get in touch for most it's already too late and irreparable damage has been done.
I believe that prevention is better than cure and I also believe everyone needs a coach in every area of their lives not just in Sport.
If we can provide access to constant every day education, advice, mentoring and support in every community centre in Ireland the benefits are completely unfathomable.
I have a background in business management, training and efficiency plus a lifetime commitment to learning and have studied with some of the greatest life management coaches in the world.
I wish to put that knowledge to good use by sharing it with the majority of the population not just the fortunate few who have the time and money to attend expensive retreats and mindfulness courses once in a blue moon just to make themselves feel good.
The FOCUS groups I intend to set up will take place every week within local communities with myself and guest speakers in attendance from all walks of life to share a combined level of expertise in every aspect of life from health, wealth, education, confidence, self esteem, belief systems to Diet & exercise, time management, goal setting, communication skills and mindfulness.
The list is endless and will be tailored to individual needs, requests and budgets.
Unfortunately I need a minimum of €3,500 to get started to purchase basic equipment required like laptop, projector, screens and PA system plus advertising and a website.
I also need to purchase a reasonable van with signwriting in order to roll out the programmes across the country eventually hence the initial total of €10,000 required.
Anything above this total will be used to accelerate promotion and expansion.
It is my intention to donate 10% of all monies earned through this business to Mental Health Charities in Ireland as well as encouraging everyone who participates to do the same.
The main thrust of this venture is to educate people in the power of their personal F.O.C.U.S (Freedom Of Choice Under Stress) whilst encouraging them to not only help themselves but to help others in the process.
It is my intention to write a series of books based upon my experiences as they unfold along with others success stories and hopefully get the media involved like Television, Radio and Newspapers as well as social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram etc.
I hope you will join me on this journey and help make it a reality... my reasons for choosing Gofundme are because the Grants process in Ireland is a joke and I recently saw a gofundme page on Facebook where a young student got the funding to replace a window after his girlfriend got stuck in it and raised over €2,000 for a €300 request.
The generosity of the world at large knows no bounds so I thought if he can get backing for such a venture I must surely be able to get support for a worthwhile needy cause.
Every penny donated will be accounted for and I will document every event via a future website and my Facebook page which has been set up under the name of 2nd Chance Education.
I have also started a blog about my own personal journey back into health and fitness from middle age into old age which I will be sharing at a later date.I
look forward to making new friends along the way.Thanking you all in advance.Michael.
