Hi, my name is Rusty! My journey has been a rough one… I come from humble beginnings where I did not experience much care or attention or love. My health suffered because I wasn’t fed often or a healthy diet which led to undernourishment and most likely contributed to the deterioration of my eyesight. It was quite difficult for me to walk for the longest time because my nails were so long they curled into my paws making getting around almost impossible. I had rapid onset of cataracts and things got a bit confusing after that. I was actually abandoned at an apartment and wasn’t discovered for a few days which was pretty scary. My life has changed dramatically though… I’ve been getting groomed and tended to, but mostly I’m getting the affection I’ve always longed for. I LOVE to cuddle and being pet and held are pretty much my favorite things ever! I’ve been learning a lot too… like going on walks! It sounds strange, but that’s new to me and it’s still a bit confusing… especially since I can’t see. It’s been baby steps, but I’m making improvements every day. I have something now that I’ve never had before… HOPE. It’s weird how having hope can change everything, how it can give life new meaning. I wake up now excited for the day! This Christmas I am hoping for the GIFT OF SIGHT. I would love to see this bright, beautiful world I’m now experiencing.
Rusty was rescued by Beople's Buddies Animal Rescue in Los Angeles. He is in desperate need of cataract surgery as he is completely blind right now and it will change his life. Upon waking up from the surgery, he will be able to see again... how miraculous is that!! We are a boutique rescue and do not have the funds to pay for such a pricey surgery. One hundred percent of the money raised goes directly to Rusty's medical bill at West LA VCA. We are hoping to raise enough money to schedule his surgery this month or early next year. Any help is truly appreciated and your donation is tax-deductible. Rusty has not been shown much kindness during his life and we are hoping to give him the life he's always deserved... one with lots of love and paws crossed, the gift of sight. Thank you so much for helping Rusty and Happy HOWLidays!
