My mother was robbed

Hi everyone. Today my mother had all of her money stolen through an elaborate social security phone scheme. She received a phone call with a gentlman claiming to be from social security. He gave her a badge number, and verified the SS number for her to call back. Long story short after 4 hours on the phone they convinced her to move all of her money that she has to her name ($3,500), which they then stole. She contacted the police and they said there was nothing they could do, because they have no idea who the scammers are. I’m not the type to ask for help, but please anything would help to make sure my mother doesn’t lose where she lives and everything else.
