Help Me Walk And Dance Again!

Donation protected
A few years ago my right hip began to give out from underneath me. I have been a joyful dancer since I began ballet at the age of 5. Dancing has been at the core of my physical and emotional being ever since. The release and expression I experience when I move to music is an enormous grace in my life, but it has been taken from me too early in life due to multiple injuries and an acute genetic legacy of osteoarthritis. Over the last 2 years my pain went from intermittent and low-level to so acute I never sleep through the whole night and at times have had to literally crawl across the floor with my 5 year old son asking why mommy can't walk today. It took 6 doctors and tremendous advocacy to finally discover the root of the pain (some days from hip to knee to ankle) comes from a severely arthritic hip joint. I have no cartilage left. My joint is bone on bone and the head of my femur has several cysts and a bone spur. A few months ago I began to use a cane on the bad days. When I finally got to see my orthopedic surgeon he said within a few years I would need a wheelchair. I'm scheduled to have a total hip replacement on September 26th. It is difficult for me to ask for help and to do so in such a public fashion, but as I face looming medical costs and the inability to drive for 6-8 weeks I have squashed my pride and am reaching out for help. Our family will need help with getting our son from school (he attends out of our assigned neighborhood) and for my husband to cut his work days in half to do so puts us in a tenuous financial predicament. I will have to do 2-3 days/week physical therapy for 6 weeks as well. The cost of that alone will be several thousand dollars. I am committed to my recovery and getting back in employable status ASAP. To be released from the pain and restricted mobility of the last few years will be life changing. I will better serve my family in every way and I'm excited for a new future where I can dance, walk, and be a joyful version of myself; capable once again of thriving and contributing in many capacities. Even the smallest gifts will be deeply appreciated. Thank you for reading and thanks in advance to those who can/will contribute to our family.
