Esther has been accepted to attend a wonderful boarding school in the USA!
Esther Barrie is 13 years old and lives in Sierra Leone, West Africa with her Father and 3 siblings. While doing her part to take care of her two younger sisters and keep up with her daily chores, she has been very focused on forwarding her education.
Esther attends a local private secondary school, where she receives proper education, under limited circumstances. With spotty local infrastructure and limited technology, her education can only go so far.
The school Esther has been accepted to is called Wasatch Academy (Wasatchacademy.org), and is in Central Utah, USA. The campus is beautiful, and the education is geared to meet a child where they are at, and offer them unlimited potential to grow and succeed. When she arrives at school she will be met by a warm community of staff and a student body that represents over 30 different countries.
Esther will begin her eighth grade year at Wasatch Academy this fall, 2019. Her goal is to attend Wasatch Academy all the way to her highschool graduation in 2024!
The money we will be raising for Esther will give her the opportunity to have the proper tools and to get the most of her experience. Esther’s tuition for the school is being covered by a scholarship , but this does not include travel expenses back and forth between Sierra Leone and the USA, clothing, laptop, extra curricular activities, vacations, and allowance.
This is the fund raise for her first year, and any remaining funds will be used towards the following years expenses.
We hope that Esther will also be able to afford to return to Sierra Leone one time, every year.
